A very important scene in the this is when the British took over the POW cams and saved the prisoners. This moment in the book was the changing point of the mood. It went from miserable and tiring to happy and joyful. They knew that they were able to go home to their families and recieve a good home cooked meal to eat. For the entire time they were at the camp, they ate nasty bread and had nasty coffee. In this scene, the tanks came in and ran through the fences and took the Canadian, Polish, and British soldiers to safety. They kept the Amercans for prisoners.

      My overall impression of this book is suprise. I was suprised that he left his mining job to ride over the country oin a train. I was suprised that he decided to join the war. I was also suprised that he decided to tunnel out of the POW camp.

       Wally was shot down and was captured in the attempt to ambush. He and what was called ‘The X Organization’ decided to tunnel out. Roger, the head of the organization, put Wally in chrage of digging. Wally had 3 tunnels started and in progress (in case one was found they still had 2 other). The Germans found one of there tunnels and one other one was right beside it. They decided to finish the hardest tunnel which went straight through the fron gate. by the time they were almost out, 11 important people of The X Organization had been moved to another POW camp (prisoner of war camp) inclueding Wally. Now Wally was stuck. 75 of The X Organization made it out but 50 of them were shot and killed.

       When the war ended, Wally was sent home. They have reunions for the POWs every year. Wally past away in 1989 in his sleep. He told his wife that he did not want a funeral… and he didnt get one.

      This story was told from a Canadian citizen’s or a General’s point of view. I think this because it praised Wally alot for his bravary in this book. If it were told from a german or a person against Canada, it would talk badly about Wally and what he did.

        I have got to know the main character well because the author gave alot of information on his life before, during and after the war. This book was alot like a biography. But it was also a great history leason.

Round Characters: There are 2 round characters so far in this story, Wally and Ches.

Flat Characters: There are several flat characters in the story. There is Betty (Wally’s wife), Wally’s friend on the phone, flight instructors, German soldiers, police, candian pilots, and a little old German lady.

The book has talked alot about Wally’s Air Fornce training. Thats been its main focus for the past chapter and a half. We just got to were Wally abandone his plane on his first mission because it caought fire. He landed with his parachute in a German village and was captured. He has been moved from one camp to another. This is as far as I have read.

The biggest event so far is that he was capture. The RCAF went to Do a Rodeo(battle of fighter planes) and they were ambused from behind. Wally ejected and opened his parachute.

I predict that Wally will plan an escape. It might not work the first couple times. I also think he will use his mining skills to dig his way out with the other vetran piloits in prisoned.

I made a Wordle today. It says the most used word on my blog is POPULATION. I dont know why population is the most used word on my blog. I dont use population that much. Do you think i use population a lot? I dont think so.

I remember that: I remember that Canada’s population started growing rapidly when migration start. Thats also when our collonies started changing customs.

I noticed that: I noticed that population grew by more then average about every 6 years. I also noticed that Lower Canada always had a high population then Upper Canada for the most part.

I was unaware of: I was unaware that Nova Scotia was reunited with Cape Britten in 1819

National Geographics

Today, science is all about structures and systems. We have to make a post about three systems in four different categories. The categories are:

Mechanical/Electrical/Digital systems
Human Body Systems
Social Systems
Natural Systems

A human bodily system that comes to my mind is the muscular system- Human System

The sewage system- Man made System

The school you go to- Social System

A computer- Mechanical System

All of these system we use in everyday life. I used an alarm clock to wake up (mechanical). I had a shower this morning (human made). I digested my breakfast (human body).

These are just some exaples.
